1. Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park – Big Sur, CA
Named after a well respected pioneer woman in Big Sur country, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park features coastline that seamlessly merges with nearby 3,000 foot cliffs. The biggest feature of the park is the 80-foot waterfall from granite cliffs that stems from the Overlook Trail. An additional bonus is whale-watching in the winter, along with plenty of other marine life year round.

3. Coronado Beach – San Diego, CA
Along with its flat sandy beaches perfect for kite flying, volleyball, tide pool exploration, and just lounging in the sun, Coronado Beach is home to the Hotel Del Coronado, a cultural fixture in San Diego. Be sure to check out the bike trail and bring your pooch to the off-leash dog area to the north

4. Ala Moana Beach - Oahu, Hawaii
Ala Moana State Park is over 100 acres of lush white sand beach and is perfect for bringing the family (it’s much less crowded than Waikiki). The palm trees transition beautifully with mountains, creating wonderful landscapes.
5. Nags Head Beach – Outer Beach, NC
Just outside of Raleigh-Durham, NC, Nags Head Beach juts out into the Atlantic Ocean more than any almost other beach in the state. This means a wonderful variety of wildlife and spectacular views.
6. Coast Guard Beach – Cape Cod, MA
The official site where the Mayflower landed in 1620, Coast Guard Beach in Cape Cod has miles of bicycle and walking trails, a historic schoolhouse, and the Cape’s oldest wind-driven windmill.
7. Venice Beach – Los Angeles, CA
Venice Beach is to Los Angeles as the East Village is to New York City. Along with the surfers and sunsets, you’re sure to find plenty of street performers, artists, muscle-heads, graffiti, and more – ingredients sure to make for some great photos.
8. Anna Maria Island – Anna Maria Island, FL
With its emerald waters overlooking Tampa Bay, a picture-perfect pier, sailing, breathtaking mangroves, and much more, Anna Maria Island is losing its status as a “best kept secret” in Florida. Bring your camera (and wrist-strap!) on a parasailing tour to get some spectacular aerial shots.
9. Main Beach – East Hampton, NY
The Hamptons in New York are known as the place where celebrities like Billy Joel, Jerry Seinfeld, and Sean “Diddy” Combs reside in the summer. But aside from the hype, the reason the rich and beautiful come to the Hamptons is the golden beaches, with the best waves in the northeast.
10. Baker Beach – San Francisco, CA
While the undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, Baker Beach provides incomparable panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge at the foot of some picturesque serpentine cliffs.
