People who love Photography are everywhere. And I'm not just talking about the snapshooting tourist ( they're EVERYWHERE ! ). I'm talking about true photographers, that have a real passion for the hobby, and the art. Digital photography has allowed people to expand their horizons in a manner that film perhaps never did. Sure there were/are many great film photographers.  But there are alot of people today who probably couldn't enjoy photography then as they do now. Be it because of the cost of shooting film, to the developing and printing process. Many people just couldn't enjoy this art form as they do today.  I got started in the film medium. And I learned alot from those early days. I continue to read ,learn and put into practice as much as I can. Digital has opened up new horizions in my passion for photography. And it seems to grow stronger every day.
