I have been in love with photography for thirty years. My first "real" camera was a 35mm rangefinder, which helped me to learn the basics from the start. You know the important ones like exposure, lighting, composition, and all about which film to use with which situation. But as with all things, they change. And digital has changed the face of photography. Although I'll admit I was leary of the changes. I used to think that the digital medium would never replace or be as good as the film medium. I am happy to admit now that I was wrong. When I first started with digital photography about four years ago, my first digital camera was sort of like going back to that old rangefinder camera. I had a lot to learn. And I found that digital was the best thing to happen to photography since the invention of the camera.
The more I learn, the more my passion grows. And now my wife has been bitten with the shutter bug. And it is fun to watch her learn and grow. and it is starting to show in her photography as well.

I still keep running into people who like to go on and on about the 35mm days and that digital photography isn't a close 2nd, so it's quite refreshing to hear from someone who grew up in the old days and recognize the new. Geez I go to a wedding and shoot 700 exposures. How could you do that with film? How could you shoot 2 or 3 shots and (develope) them instantly to show something for sale on line? I never got into photography seriously when it was film. I took some great shots, but it wasn't nearly as much fun.

Its still all about the photographer.
The advantages of working with equipment that requires imagination and conceptualization is that it builds in the mind of the shooter.
Glass-plates? Film? Digital? Whatever comes next... and next... it is still all about the photographer.
