A church in Ollantaytambo that a taxi driver led me to after I asked about beautiful old buildings.

After speaking with my driver about my interests, he took a different route so we could stop at these little known Incan ruins in the highlands.

In the middle of nowhere, very people stop at these beautiful ruins. They are not mentioned in many guidebooks.

I asked locals about the significance of these bulls in Spanish so I could label them correctly – they are good luck charms for the home.

Only after asking this woman’s permission did she begin to look at the camera and smile.

This woman was happy to have her picture taken and thanked me for asking – many tourists don’t wait for permission.

This little boy was very shy until I asked if he wanted to see some pictures on the back of my camera. After that, he was excited to have his picture taken.

I asked this man if I could photograph him making adobe bricks and he invited me to stay for an hour and showed me the whole process.

I always ask locals if there are any holidays or fiestas coming up – I would not have known about this protest in the square if I didn’t talk with local people.
