One of my bucket list items has been to get to the famed Horseshoe Bend area of the Grand Canyon. This amazing spot allows you to look over a 1,000 foot cliff and photograph a great view of the river. The image here was shot just as the sun rose over the horizon and began to hit the rocks around 6:30am.

The other amazing area in northern AZ are the slot canyons in the Antelope Canyon Park area. Located on Navajo land, this restricted area is a great adventure where you hike down a twisted canyon worn by centuries of water erosion to a depth of around 100’ below the surface. The slot is accessible only through paid guided tours and are well worth the trip. There are a series of ladders and drops which take you along the water’s natural path. Probably not for folks who are claustrophobic, but an awesome experience.
