San Francisco's Hidden Gems

San Francisco's Hidden Gems

Alissa Everett explores San Francisco's waterfront and its lesser known bridge.

Article rating: 7.30

San Francisco's waterfront is filled with photographic opportunities, from tourist destinations of Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 to decrepit piers and quiet waterscapes. The city also boasts a second bridge, other than the Golden Gate, the Bay Bridge. Close to the Financial and downtown, you can walk under and around for interesting details and/or landscapes. Walking is by far the best way to access the waterfront. The walk along the Embarcadero from Fisherman's Wharf to the Bay Bridge is roughly 2.5 miles and can take you all day with a camera. Lively street performers, colorful buildings, sea lions, cruise ships, new and old piers, and finally the Bay Bridge. The waterfront faces North and East, get out early for great light and shots of the city as it comes to life.
