Photojournalist David Sanders enjoys the best of two worlds. He combines the daily stimulation and variety of his full-time job as a newspaper photographer for the Arizona Daily Star with the freedom to pursue selected freelance opportunities.

During his 25 years in the business, his images have appeared in the Arizona Daily Star, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News, the Smithsonian magazine, Sunset magazine, Newsweek, Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest and The Discovery Channel.
He has photographed everything from fashion models, portraits of business executives, and college athletes to wildfires, dinosaur digs, and Super Bowls. He has helped illustrate books, posters, annual reports, and ad campaigns and works for corporate clients such as Coca Cola, Nike, Mercedes Benz, and North Face.

Sanders is a former Arizona Press Photographer of the Year and has won numerous awards in the annual competitions of the National Press Photographers Associations. In 2002, the series of photos he took during the most devastating wildfires in Arizona’s history was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
He earned an Associate Degree in photography from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism from the University of Arizona.

As an instructor of the Panasonic Lumix Digital Photo Academy, Sanders teaches photo enthusiasts how to become so comfortable with the capabilities of their camera controls that they can concentrate fully on capturing the scenes and events unfolding before their eyes.
Whatever the photo assignment, whether it's teaching or shooting sports, landscape, portrait, fine art, or any other photographic category, the latest resources in the digital manipulation of images is a real asset on a number of levels. One of Sanders' favorite is the Nik Software line of plug-ins for Photoshop. For more information on how David uses Nik's products on his images, click here to read his ten tips.
