How to Look "Celebrity Fabulous" in Photos by Dana Bowden

Even without airbrushing and Photoshop, anyone can look celebrity fabulous with these tips

Article rating: 8.39

Everyone wishes to look as good as the glamorous celebrities cover magazines and dominate our television and movie screens.  Here are some simple things you can do to get that celebrity fabulous look.

1)    James Earl Jones – An air of confidence.
In this photo, James leans forward and juts his head slightly towards the camera with a slight smile, exhibiting a casual, confident personality. Extending your neck towards the camera will help avoid a double chin and accentuate your jawline.

You see that his is body is positioned diagonally from the camera with his head turned back to face the lens- angling your body this way will help create a slimmer profile in your pictures.

2)    Kelly Preston – The high fashion pose.
Good posture makes for great photos. Kelly Preston here is standing at attention with her back arched, stomach in, and shoulders tilted. Standing like that will make anybody look taller and thinner.

Like James Earl Jones, Kelly’s body is angled sideways and her head turned back towards the camera- a classic celebrity pose. Her chin is pushed out and down – extending the neck like this smoothes the jawline, and works even better when the photographer is shooting downwards, as he is here.

3)    Faye Dunaway – Knows this business well.
Sitting down, Faye uses a fan as a prop giving the hand something to do. For folks at home, pick something up when posing- a book, a newspaper, a flower or yes, even a fan- to add a little more visual interest to the photo. Props can also work as concealers if you have a feature you’re not too proud of- a bit of a stomach for example. Consider draping something like a sweater over your arm and holding it a little above the waistline.

You also see here that Faye tilts her head and shoulders just enough to break any right angles, and flashes that sultry smile that made her famous. Be mindful of the angle at which you face the camera and avoid face and body both pointing square on to the lens. Most importantly, always project your personality in your shots.

4)    Donald Trump – All business, all the time.
Donald strikes an authoritative pose here, facing away from the light, causing a shadow on his left side. This thins his face significantly. Indoors or out, take note of what direction the light is coming from and yourself accordingly for this flattering effect.

Mr. Trump also angles his whole body and head away from the camera, with only his eyes turned to look directly into the lens- a pose which is both slimming and dramatic.

5)    Jamie Lee Curtis – An “approachable” look.
Jamie  stands with hands on her sides with her stomach sucked in and hips tilted, emphasizing her slender waistline. With that smile, it’s a casual pose that projects warmth.

This photo also shows again how you can and should avoid standing completely square to the camera. Jamie’s body is straight on, but she’s turned her head at an angle, with her eyes looking sideways at the lens- a beguiling and flattering pose that also helps define the jawline.
