What is It?

Play this Photo Game With Your Friends

Article rating: 7.50

This is a challenging game for any group of people, especially photographers. If you belong to a camera club, try it at the club's next party. You'll be asking the contestants to identify familiar subjects that were photographed in unfamiliar ways, making them hard to recognize.

What You'll Need:
  • About 25 photographs of common objects taken from very close up or from unusual angles.

  • Slide projector and screen.

  • Paper with numbered lines for each participant

  • Pencil for each participant

  • Numbered list that identifies the slides for the game administer's reference

Here's what to do:
  1. Do a "run-through" of all the slides, projecting them fairly quickly.

  2. Project the slides again, this time holding each one on the screen for about a minute while the participants write down what they think the objects are. Leave some light on in the room so the participants can see to write.
  3. Score the entries and give a prize for the person who has the most correct identifications.

Notes:

This can also be a team activity. Divide the participants into two teams and let the collaborate on identifying the images. In this case, leave the slides on the screen for about two minutes, giving the contestants time to discuss them. Although this game is best done by projecting slides, you could show large prints, instead.

Can you guess what the photos are?

  • Salt Shaker
  • Pin Cushion
  • Bottle Top
  • Paper Bag
