Article rating: 6.80
"When I was younger and first starting out as an amateur photographer, I would spend day after day trying to get the ideal photograph of the things I liked best in New York City," says Rudolph Giuliani, the Big Apple's mayor. "I remember spending four months trying to get just the right photograph that would recreate for me how I felt about the Brooklyn Bridge."

He's still at it, trying to get photographs that will sum up his lifelong love affair with the city. He does, however, have a bit of a problem taking people pictures: "It gets very strange when I try to photograph people—they often run away. I guess it's weird seeing the mayor with a camera. People have number slips in their pockets, or they're doing funny things with their cigarettes, so I have to focus mostly on inanimate objects."
If the goal of an ideal photograph of the things Mayor Giuliani loves about New York is perhaps unattainable, there's no doubt that his passion for picture-taking enhances his appreciation of the city...and vice versa.
