Pic-Tac-Toe

by Elinor Stecker-Orel
3-Dimensional Tic-Tack-Toe

Article rating: 6.00

You've probably played tic-tack-toe with paper and pencil, but we think you'll like our three-dimensional version even better. In the paper-and-pencil game, two players each try to make a line of three Xs or three Os in a grid with nine spaces. In our new way, you'll play with game pieces instead of pencil and paper. And the game pieces will be identified with photographs instead of Xs and Os..

Here’s What You'll Need:
  • A box that's a little more than two-inches high and 5 x 5 inches or larger. Our box is square, but yours doesn't have to be.
  • Marking pen and ruler, or narrow tape.
  • Ten empty 35mm film cans or ten small wooden blocks.
  • Five copies each of two different small photos.
  • Paste.

Here's What To Do:

1. Use the marking pen or tape to divide the cover of the box into nine spaces. Draw two vertical lines and two horizontal ones, as you can see in the picture.

2. Cut the photos into circles to fit on the cover of the film cans. Trace around the cover to make a pattern.

3. Paste the photos onto the can covers.

4. Store the game pieces in the box.

Notes:
You can use photos of your favorite things. If you will always play with the same
person, you can use pictures of yourself and the other person.
