Michael Grecco, age 38, has an extensive background as an editorial and advertising photographer, who currently has six magazine covers on the newsstand.
Along with his advertising work, Michael does regular assignments for Entertainment Weekly, Premiere, Movieline, Business Week, Forbes, Rolling Stone, Playboy, Money, Worth, Inc., Newsweek, and Time to name a few. He is well known for his characteristic off-beat, conceptual and fresh style. His color work tends to be bold for bigger impact, and his black and white work is dramatically lit and often toned. Always unexpected and unusual, Michael was recently chosen to teach at the prestigious Santa Fe Workshops. He has been featured twice in Photo District News, most recently in the May '95 issue, as a lighting master. Michael has also been featured in American Photo, had the cover of the 1994 Photo Design magazine awards issue, and has won numerous awards including 1995 and 1996 Communication Arts and several Creativity awards.
He has photographed all sorts of celebrities such as Lawrence Fishburne, Glen Close, Johnny Depp, Andie MacDowell, Rene Russo, Shaquille O'Neal, Woody Harrelson, Janet Jackson, Pierce Brosnan, and Johnny Cash. He has also photographed various heads of state, including several presidents of the United States. Michael Grecco is never afraid to experiment. When he shot John Singleton for LA Style, he put away his Hasselblads and shot the job with a $10 Holga toy camera. The magazine and the film maker were delighted with the powerful portrait he achieved.
