Holiday Photo Puzzle

Turn Your Holiday Picture Into a Fun Puzzle

Article rating: 2.03

If you want to take your holiday pictures further, here is a cool suggestion of turning it into a puzzle. Family portraits work particularly well for this project as it looks very funny to see familiar faces cut up and having to put them back together. This makes a great puzzle for kids as well as a great present.

What you will need:

  • A good enlargement of a photograph, I suggest a size around 11x 8 inches or larger. It gets hard to cut the puzzle shapes if they are too small.
  • Cardboard a little larger that your photograph
  • Scissors, glue
  • A pencil, ruler
  • Transparent sticky vinyl sheet (optional for protection of your photograph)

Here is how you do it:

Step 1
Glue your photograph onto the cardboard. Don’t choose cardboard that is too thick, because you will need to cut it later with your scissors.

Step 2
If you want the puzzle to last longer I suggest protecting the surface of your photograph with a transparent sticky sheet of vinyl. Put it on carefully so that it will not form creases.

Step 3
Cut out the picture.

Step 4
Now turn it around and with the help of the ruler divide the back of the cardboard into even squares. This is just a guide to make it easier to draw the puzzle shapes. Then start drawing the puzzle shapes by adding an inward or outward loop to each side of the squares you drew. It is pretty easy. Make the shapes all different so it is more fun playing with the puzzle.

Step 5
Now all you have to do is cut out the shapes carefully with your scissors. And then try to put them back together again. Have fun!!!
