| Scanning is a method of digitizing photographs, negatives, slides/transparencies and drawings. The scanner reads the continuous tone image and turns it into pixels, which are individual dots that contain color and tonal information. This digitized image is then saved as a picture file that can be delivered to the computer by cable, floppy disk, and other removable storage media, or through email. |
