Are digital pictures more or less expensive, compared to the cost of 35mm film and processing?
Consumers today can expect to pay a premium for the ability to take digital pictures. Digital cameras with a wide range of features range in price from $300 to $1,000. However, in the next 4 to 5 years, anticipated advances in technology will result in a more affordable situation.

Calgary Stampede and Exhibition - Calgary, Alberta
To date, over a billion people have attended the event called "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth," and no one has yet to challenge the title. This rowdy show of Canadian cowboy culture takes place every summer, and for ten days the usually cosmopolitan Calgary morphs back to its cow town roots.

HOT SHOE
A hot shoe is an accessory holder (or accessory shoe) on a camera that embodies an electrical contact so that, for instance, a flash unit can be triggered to go off. A small, portable flash that has a contact on its "foot" can be connected to a hot shoe, which will cause the flash to fire when you press the shutter release.

HYPERFOCAL DISTANCE
Technically, it is the distance between the camera and the hyperfocal point. But, in practice, Hyperfocal distance is a lens setting technique that allows you to shoot sharp pictures within a certain distance range without having to refocus. When the lens is focused on infinity, the hyperfocal distance is the distance of the nearest object in a scene that is acceptably sharp.

HYPERFOCAL POINT
When the lens is focused on infinity, the nearest point to the camera that is considered acceptably sharp is the Hyperfocal point. By focusing on the hyperfocal point, everything beyond it to infinity remains in acceptable focus, and objects halfway between the camera and the hyperfocal point will also be rendered acceptably sharp.

Instant Photography
Invented by Polaroid, instant photography remains a steady performer in the consumer imaging market today. Instant cameras are still seen by consumers as an ideal "party" camera for instant gratification. There are also more serious creative, scientific and business applications for this medium.

What are the unique benefits of instant photography?
Instant photography offers the unique ability to "deliver" finished prints on-the-spot allowing users to almost instantaneously interact with the finished pictures.

Why should I buy -- or use -- an instant camera when a digital camera also lets me see what I've photographed shortly after taking the picture?
Digital imaging does come closer than anything else to matching the immediacy of an instant camera, though the resolution, or print quality, of a digital image is often not as good as an instant photo. And, digital photography also costs more than instant photography. Finally, although a digital image can be viewed shortly after taking the picture, it is not always feasible to travel with a computer to capture and print a digital photo on location.
