Use Black & White

Use Black & White

Professional photographer Darryl Fong offers a summer photo tip.

West end of Waikiki - A lone surfer makes his way in from an early morning session. Experimenting with the monochrome mode on my camera, I thought this added some "mood" to the shot. It strips out all the beautiful color normally associated with a beach resort, and leaves you with light, shadow, subject and composition.  Somehow adds to a quiet moment against the resort backdrop of Waikiki and Diamondhead in the distance.  More of a timeless image.
