No matter what kind of camera you use, whether its film or digital, expensive or a disposable, the most essential element needed to make a gratifying photograph is the ability to just take your time, slow down, and become attuned to the environment around you. Think about composition, the relationship of shapes in the frame, the play of light, and the colors of the subject.
Photograph what is aesthetically pleasing and beautiful to you, something that you can see as a finished photograph worth making for yourself first, and hopefully then, for others to enjoy too.
