The Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. This is a land that takes no backseat to the wondrous lighting, especially in the summer. At sunrise, as depicted in this image, the warmth of the 4 am rays defy imagination. The sun in Alaska on the peninsula is always low and not far off the horizon, therefore the lighting is absolutely fantastic!
The only filter to create this image was a circular polarizer, shot with a Nikon D1X digital on a bogan tripod. Shot not far from the world famous Kenai River, it is imperative that one rises very early to catch such lighting. Within minutes, the light will go flat and you will have less than maximum dynamics of lighting. In many cases, during the summer, because of the water being glacial fed, it is much colder than the air and in most mornings, fog will be present and will greatly enhance the image you take.
