The Shot Less Taken: Recovering Lawyer turned Photographer

An Introduction to Photographer Rosanne Pennella

Article rating: 1.00

Plenty of people dream of quitting their day job and pursuing the creative life. Some do it…and find the reality a bit more daunting than expected. New Yorker Rosanne Pennella not only walked away from a career as a successful attorney to be a travel photographer, but in a relatively short time she’s received the kind of assignments and recognition that many would consider a dream fulfilled.

Her cibachrome tribal and travel images have been exhibited at museums and galleries including a solo show entitled “Face to Face”, images of Papua New Guinea and another solo show, entitled “Echoes of Another World” featuring images of tribal Kenya. On assignment, she has photographed for the Moroccan National Tourist Office, Costa Rican Tourism, Tourism Malaysia, Somak Safaris, and the China National Tourist Office. Next up…an assignment for Quark Expeditions aboard a polar icebreaker in far northern Canada and Greenland near the magnetic north pole.

In addition to publishing credits from magazines such as Fodor’s, Travel Holiday, and World & I, Pennella’s work has also been recognized by the photographic industry: Nikon has included her photos in their Full Line Product Guide, Nikon World, and www.nikonworld.com . She also counts Lowepro and Kodak as sponsors of her photographic efforts.
