Panasonic Debuts Its Longest Lasting Alkaline Battery Digital Power™ At 2007 CES

Panasonic’s Batteries Continue to Meet the Demands of Portable Electronics

Article rating: 4.00

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 7, 2007) – Panasonic, one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers, today introduced its new and improved premium alkaline battery, Digital Power™, at the CES in Las Vegas.  The advanced AA Digital Power batteries, which have begun shipping this past holiday season, have been proven in internal Panasonic testing to last longer and deliver ultimate performance when compared to current digital alkaline batteries.  This upgrade will make Digital Power the longest lasting Panasonic alkaline battery available.  While at 2007 CES in Las Vegas, Panasonic will present the product at its booth, #9405 in the Central Hall.

Panasonic Digital Power™ Alkaline Batteries

“Panasonic continues to provide consumers with the power that they need for portable devices,” said Brian Kimberlin, director for Panasonic Battery Corporation of America.  “Last year, over 75 percent of batteries purchased were alkaline, and we are committed to providing consumers with Panasonic’s best performing alkaline battery.”

The new Digital Power batteries showed an increase of eight percent in the internal testing performance index, when matched against Panasonic’s current Digital Power battery.  Enhancements were made to both the anode and electrolyte.  The improved Digital Power battery was especially designed to provide reliable and dependable power to moderate and high draining devices, such as toys, MP3 players and CD players.  These batteries are currently available nationally at a suggested retail price of $3.49 per 4-pack.

Panasonic has a rich history in bringing battery innovation to its highest levels, which can be seen in its flagship Oxyride™ Extreme Power™.  As consumers’ dependence on portable technology grows, so does the need for a reliable battery that meets the demands of emerging high-tech devices.  Oxyride is an ideal disposable battery for portable electronics, like digital still cameras, and provides twice as many photos as compared to Panasonic’s Alkaline Plus™.

Oxyride is based on nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) chemistry, which was first introduced to U.S. consumers in July, 2005.  Oxyride batteries have been proven in independent lab testing to last longer and deliver the best value-per-picture in digital still cameras when compared with Panasonic’s alkaline plus batteries.  Available nationally in AA and AAA, in 2-pack and 4-pack, Oxyride sell at a suggested retail price of $3.99 - $4.99.

Comments About This Article
I tested this camera for a client. I didn’t have the light running for more than 15 minutes. The battery lasted approximately 6 hours before recharging. The

LCD, however, had a few dead pixels - never saw this before. Tried returning for exchange and had to put up quite a fight. Anyone else seen this?
