Canada Independence Day - Ottawa, ON.

  
Annual event celebrating Canada's anniversary. The heart of the capital comes alive at four main sites with shows, street performers, concerts, games and activities for the whole family. In the evening a spectacular show featuring top Canadian performers is staged on Parliament Hill and culminates with a fireworks display. Bring plenty of film. 350,000 are expected.

Roswell UFO Encounter - Roswell, New Mexico

  
New Mexico, land of enchantment. Site of the first atomic bomb explosion. Home of Smokey the Bear. And in 1947, some say, the location of an alien encounter when an unidentified object crashed on Hub Corn's sheep ranch and caused quite a stir. Every year, "Roswellians" descend on and double the population of Roswell, New Mexico, for the Roswell UFO Encounter festival.

Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling Tournament - Edirne, Turkey

  
Every year for more than six centuries, over 1,000 men have gathered in the Kirkpinar Meadow in Edirne, Turkey, to compete in a sweaty, slippery contest of skill, strength, and endurance, the Kirkpinar Oil Wrestling Tournament. The goal of the wrestlers, or "pehlivans," is to become the "Baspehlivan " (Chief Pehlivan). The President of Turkey presents the winner with a prize.

Santa Fe Photo Trek

You won’t want to miss this fun-filled trek of learning and adventure in one of the most historically and visually rich cities in America. During the trek, students will be introduced to landscapes, portraiture, film, infrared, and the digital imaging process: capture, manipulation, output and presentation. Each day, there will be informal presentations that cover each of these aspects, and the instructors will answer all attendees' question both inside the classroom and later on in the field.  All of these discussions will be interactive and students are encouraged to participate by asking as many questions as they like.

"Pixels to Print" This class is for anyone with basic photo skills interested in mastering digital imaging. We will study Adobe Photoshop and Elements and learn Color sync, Basic Adjustments, Layers and Actions . NIKON has provided several professional and advanced consumer 5.0 megabyte cameras. Sandisk Ultra 512 meg large capacity cards are in each camera. You will have access to two 1280 and one 2200 EPSON printers. Perfecting large format printing is the weekend goal. I try to stress digital "Workflow" and each computer is equipped with Extensis Portfolio and CameraBits' Photo Mechanic. Software discounts are available to students taking this class. We will photograph Washington's best scenics at dawn and dusk and work on Photoshop, Databasing and Digital Workflow during the harsh daylight hours.
