2007 Sun Fest - West Palm Beach, Florida
Sun Fest runs from May 3rd to the 6th.
Sun Fest is a great music and arts festival held in beautiful West Palm Beach, Florida. This year’s musical line up include: Ludacris, George Thorogood, Sean Paul, Todd Rundgren, The Wailers, Fonseca, Huey Lewis & The News.
There’s also KidsFest which is a mini-SunFest with kid-size fun, activities and entertainment. It's a playful way to spend the afternoon for our youngest patrons and the young at heart.
The work of over 160 national artists will be on display, including jewelry, painting, pottery & ceramics, photography, sculpture, wood, arts and crafts, and more.

2007 Miami Hong Kong Boat Festival - Miami, Florida
The Miami Hong Kong Boat Festival takes place on May 5th.
The purpose of the annual Miami Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival is to promote the sport and tradition of dragon boat racing, sharing this dramatic aspect of Asian culture with the greater Miami community. Proceeds from the Dragon Boat Festival will go towards promotion of dragon boat racing in Miami and toward charitable activities. The Dragon Boat Festival is also a way of encouraging Miamians to become more physically fit, while enjoying the outdoor opportunities of our city. Teams will race down a 250-meter and a 500-meter waterway on the day of the festival. The boats measure 40 feet in length, 4 feet in width, and carry 20 paddlers, 1 drummer, and 1 steersperson. On average, these boats weigh 500 pounds. This is a great opportunity to practice action photography.

2007 Cinco De Mayo Fiesta - San Diego, California
The Cinco De Mayo Fiesta runs from May 6th to the 7th.
The West's premiere celebration of arts, culture, history and entertainment, the Wells Fargo Old Town Fiesta Cinco de Mayo Presented by Barona features more than 200 performers at eight venues of entertainment, a traditional Mexican Mercado filled with 100 specialty booths featuring hand made crafts and regional cuisine. Highlights of the event include the Wells Fargo Stagecoach rides, My Ancestor's Village - a traditional Kumeyaay community created by the Barona Band of Mission Indians, World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales, Re-enactment of the 1862 Battle of Puebla, Escaramuzas Golondrinas female equestrian group and the Puebla de los ninos children's village.

2007 Reno River Festival - Reno, Nevada
The Reno River Festival runs from May 10th ot the 13th.
The Reno River Festival is set for another year of world-class kayaking on the Truckee River in downtown Reno, Nevada. Now in its 4th year, the festival has quickly evolved into one of the nation’s top kayaking competitions, drawing pros from around the world. The festival showcases kayaking at its best with a weekend full of competitions, demos, clinics, live music and an expo featuring the hottest products on the market.
All of the action will unfold in the heart of downtown Reno at the Truckee River Whitewater Park and a River Walk district that is brimming with hip new restaurants, cafes, ultra lounges, bars, shops and galleries.
The Truckee River offers a dynamic water experience year-round and the Reno-Tahoe region provides many other adventure attractions including 24-hour gaming excitement, golf, skiing, hiking and biking trails, lakes and a selection of art museums and galleries, just minutes from downtown and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

2007 Albany Tulip Festival - Albany, New York
The Albany Tulip Festival runs from May 11th to the 13th.
One of Albany’s oldest and most highly anticipated events is the annual Tulip Festival set in Albany’s beautiful historic Washington Park. Each year, this traditional Albany event greets spring with thousands of tulips blooming in a myriad of colors and varieties. Thousands from across the Capital District Region and beyond come to Tulip Fest each May to celebrate Albany’s rich Dutch heritage.
Tulip Fest features entertainment on 3 stages. Over 100 crafters present the best in hand made crafts and the fine arts show showcases photography, paintings in various meduims and sculpture. Food vendors offer an incredible array of delicious food, and the KidZone features crafts and family fun entertainment, and Sunday is the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day. The highlight of the festival is the crowning of the Albany Tulip Queen on Saturday at noon.

2007 International Firework Competition - Hannover, Germany
The International Firework Competition takes place on May 12th.
The 16th annual International Fireworks Competition turned out to be an absolut hit this year attracting visitors from far and wide and with a record number in excess of 14.000 visitors attending the closing competition. For the 16th year in succession firework genies from all over the world have competed against each other demonstrating their magic pyrotechnical skills in the wonderful setting of the baroque gardens of Herrenhausen. The combination of theatrical events staged in the gardens with an enthralling closing festival of fireworks to musical accompaniment make for a perfect and unforgettable summer evening.

2007 Houston Art Car Parade - Houston, Texas
The Houston Art Car Weekend runs from May 12th to the 13th.
More than 70 art cars will visit more than 30,000 people who otherwise may not be able to experience the parade, stopping at children's hospitals, schools and community centers. Departs from the Houston Zoo.
Today, the Art Car Parade enters its 20th year as the highlight of a three-day celebration of the drive to create, Art Car Weekend. The parade attracts 250+ vehicles and other entries from 23 states and Canada, a live audience of some 200,000 and a television audience of 225,000. Parade entries include anything on wheels from unicycles to lawnmowers to cars, and are as likely to be made by members of the general public as by recognized artists. Community groups, public and private schools, and professional organizations have become regular participants. Inspired by what they see, spectators create art cars of their own and often become future participants.
The Art Car Parade is a true public art event, created by the people and for the people. There is no pre-selection process, no juried selection of entries - everyone who makes a decorated, augmented or otherwise decked-out wheeled vehicle can be a participant. And as the parade grows, attracting more and more participants, the complexity and quality of the entries increases.

2007 Seattle International Children's Festival - Seattle, Washington
The Seattle International Children's Festival plays May 14-19 at Seattle Center.
For over two decades the Festival has presented an abundance of fascinating performers from around the globe and made wide-eyed children out of attendees of all ages. This year’s Festival features 12 world-class acts performing circus, music, theatre, puppetry, dance and more! For toddlers, teens, and all ages in between, there’s something for the entire family.
The festival has been running since 1987 and regularly draws more than 50,000 visitors. From the gypsies of Rajasthan to Siberian throat singers and Cuban divas, there's plenty of music, dance, acrobatics, puppetry and storytelling to entertain children of all ages.

2007 Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee - Angels Camp, California
The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee runs from May 16th to the 20th.
The world-renowned Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee has a rich heritage dating back to the 1800’s. In the early Gold Mining Days, the Mother Lode Country was very prosperous. It attracted many industrious individuals looking for adventure. One such individual was Samuel Clemens who regularly made the trip from San Francisco to a small mountain cabin near Angels Camp. It was during one of Mr. Clemens’ trips that he heard a tale that inspired his first published work, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”. The story records the antics of a character named Jim Smiley and his frog Dan’l Webster. Mr. Clemens first published this story in 1865 and used his pen name, “Mark Twain”, and so the legend began. Today the adventure continues, we still jump frogs as part of the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, which is held annually the 3rd weekend in May. This “Old-Fashion County Fair” features exhibits, entertainment, rodeo, horse events, livestock exhibits and the best little carnival in the west. Everyone is your neighbor and you are hosted by the friendliest people on earth.

2007 World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest - Memphis, Tennessee
World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest runs from May 17th to the 19th.
It's the Super Bowl of Swine. The College of Pig Knowledge. The Granddaddy of Grills. The Largest Pork Barbecue Cooking Contest on the Planet.
The sweetest smelling cloud hovers over Memphis Hickory, pork, tomato, mustard, vinegar, more pork ... Three stuffed days of smoked heaven where contestants eat, sleep, and live pig. All oink wildly, trying to win more than $61,050 in prizes.
Grillmasters and goodtimers will descend on Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis for serious competition that's seriously fun. Even the grills dress up for this party like fire trucks, airplanes, piggy banks, pot bellied stoves; you name it, it's probably here.
More than 90,000 pork lovers from around the globe Australia, Russia, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Estonia, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand and the United Kingdom gather together to testify about their special sauces, rubs, ribs, and whatnot in Pig-dom.
Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass runs from May 18th to the 19th.
Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass is a family oriented event celebrating the beauty of spring, championship barbeque and world class blueegrass music. Bloomin' Barbeque & Bluegrass takes place during Smoky Mountain Springfield in historic downtown Sevierville, Tennesse.

2007 California Strawberry Festival - Oxnard, California
The California Strawberry Festival runs from May 19th to the 20th.
With live musical entertainment, over 300 Arts & Crafts, 50 food booths with yummy berry favorites, gooey contests, the Strawberry Promenade, Star Berry Hunt, Strawberryland For Kids, and more, it’s the perfect celebration of the region’s agricultural heritage with proceeds benefiting more than 40 Southland charities.
Vendors offer a wide variety of strawberry concoction, strawberry cotton candy (floss) and strawmonade as well as the more traditional strawberry desserts. If that doesn't sate the kiddies, enter them in the strawberry-shortcake-scarfing contest, or have a go yourself in the strawberry-tart-hurling competition.

North Park Festival of the Arts takes place on May the 20th.
The North Park Festival of the Arts. neighborhood event is an explosion of arts, culture and entertainment that takes place in downtown North Park, along University Avenue between 30th and 32nd Street. Your day will have something for everyone including breathtaking art, live entertainment, scrumptious food, and all types of entertainment
Come and enjoy The Artists’ Village. This interactive community of artisans will showcase artists who will be creating and displaying their work and allowing visitors to observe the creation of fine art. Be sure to stop by the juried artists’ area where local artists will display and sell their work, and compete for awards. This area will also feature the applicants and honor the winner of this year’s Festival of the Arts poster contest.
In addition to the amazing works of art, you can also stroll more than 150 specialty booths while enjoying a wide variety of international cuisine, or sit and relax in the Coffee and Tea Lounge. Just adjacent to the food court, this relaxing area will host locally owned coffee and tea establishments and their delightful treats.
A festival in San Diego just isn’t complete without great live entertainment and the North Park Festival of the Arts is no different. You can dance, sing or just enjoy four stages of live entertainment featuring some of San Diego’s hottest live bands and exciting dance troupes.

2007 The Gullah Festival - Beaufort, South Carolina
The Gullah Festival takes runs from the May 25th to the 27th.
The festival celebrates and recognizes the history, customs, cultures, language and accomplishments of the African Americans of the low-country.
The festivities consist of three days of storytelling, African dance, drumming and music. Arts and crafts, cultural workshops, fashion shows, boat-building, basket-weaving and quilting add to the fun.
The event takes place in the low country of South Carolina - the region where African slaves were brought in the late 1600s to work on the rice, indigo, and cotton plantations. Like any island culture with minimal mainland contact and because they were not sold and resold as often as slaves on the mainland were, the Gullah have been able to hold onto some unique traditions and retain ancestral family patterns for hundreds of years. It draws in over 70,000 people from 32 states and several countries.

2007 Carnaval San Francisco - San Francisco, California
Carnaval San Francisco runs from May 26th to the 27.
One of the city's most spectacular traditions, Carnaval San Francisco showcases the very best of Latin American and Caribbean cultures and traditions with a diverse array of food, music, dance and artistry, including works created by the talented community of Mission District residents and Bay Area artists.
On Saturday and Sunday, May 26 and 27, the Carnaval San Francisco Festival will offer food, music, dance, art, crafts and other fun activities and events on several stages for the entire family to enjoy. Spanning seven blocks, the Carnaval San Francisco Festival will take place on Harrison Street between 16th and 23rd streets (10 a.m.-6 p.m.).
On Sunday, May 27, the Carnaval Grand Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of 24th and Bryant streets, where it will proceed west to Mission Street. From there, the parade heads north on Mission down to 17th Street, where it will turn east and flow into the festival area.
