It's called Snowbombing, and it's back for another go. Be part of the madness and witness 50 of the world's top snowboarders in all their glory. Or, alternatively, dance to the pumping music from 150 of the top DJs and party to your heart's content.

2008 The 6th Annual Indian Wells Arts Festival - Indian Wells, CA
The 6th Annual Indian Wells Arts Festival "The Place To Be" will showcase the hand-made creations of 200 award-winning visual artists. Held each year on the Indian Wells grass garden plaza amid a stunning landscape of mountain and desert, the festival features everything from contemporary oil paintings and southwestern scenes to glistening jewelry and decorous floral pastels. Artists will form an artisan's village by setting up canopies to display their work. “The Place To Be” will also include glass blowing and rock-sculpting demonstrations, a Gourmet Market Place, music and children’s activities.

2008 Arctic Man Ski & Sno-Go Classic - Summit Lake, AK
Come see some of the world's most amazing and thrilling downhill racing in the majestic beauty of Alaska. The Arctic Man race combines snowmobiles (or snowmachines, as local Alaskans say) and either a skier or a snowboarder towed behind. The race is a combination of a skier/snowboarder racing 2 miles through a canyon, then meeting up with the sled and grabbing a tow rope at 60 mph. Then, the two race uphill at speeds of 86 mph, where the towee lets go and completes the race over the finish line.

2008 World Grits Festival - St. George, SC
Started in 1986, the World Grits Festival in St. George, SC, now pulls in around 45,000 spectators and participants. The events include a grits-eating competition, corn tossing, corn shelling, and the crowning of "Miss Grits". The most popular event is the Rolling in the Grits competition, where participants dive into a pool of cold grits, with hopes of sticking the most grits to their bodies.

2008 Pond Skimming - Whiteface Mountain, Wilmington, NY
Each year Whiteface Mountain holds a pond-skimming contest to commemorate spring. Participants try to glide across a pond on skis, and the fun part is seeing who doesn’t make it across without a dip in the water! The competition is open to anyone who wants to give it a try and there are prizes for best costume, biggest splash and other fun categories.
Considered the best of the marathon cities, London hosts the annual 26.2 mile run April 13. Not only a grueling test of athleticism, the London Marathon is also considered to be the longest street party in the world. Come see what it's all about!
