After visiting the temples of Angkor Wat (unbelievable) we went to a floating village on the Tonle Sap lake in Central Cambodia.  The villagers in this lake built their homes on floating islands of weeds and float around the huge lake, drifting with the tide.  This way they were safe from bandits.  So that they never had to come in to land, they also dumped dirt on the patches of weeds and started growing crops.  They also brought pigs and goats to live with them as well.  We took a small wooden motorboat out the village and tooled through the waterways between.

After the floating village, we stopped at a small village where we walked down the one dirt road through town.  the old man with the axe told me (through our translator) that he had been cutting bamboo every day for the last 40 years.
