Interview by Tyrone Roblin

Article rating: 7.33

Brenda Tharp specializes in travel, outdoor and location photography. She has llama-trekked, sea-kayaked, flown in helicopters and hot-air balloons, cycled, and hiked to get her photographs. Those images have appeared on the pages of Adventure West, Alaska Airlines, Audubon, Discovery, Forbes, Navigator, Sierra, Sunset and Travel Holiday magazines, along with many others.
She photographed the award-winning books Muir Woods: Redwood Refuge, and Marin Headlands: Portals of Time, (GGNPA). She has also contributed to books published by Chronicle, Michelin, National Geographic, Sierra Club, and others. Her commercial clients include those in the educational and travel markets, along with book publishers, corporations, design and advertising agencies. (List of CLIENTS)

Her colorful and graphic photographs are regularly published in calendars and greetings cards for a variety of international companies. Brenda markets her own stock photographs, and is also represented by The Stock Market in NYC.

Brenda has been featured in the February 2000 issue of Rangefinder Magazine, the January 2001 issue of Studio Photography and Design, and a recent issue of CANON's Insight magazine. Her keen eye for design, and use of natural light and color are a signature in her work. She has co-starred in three episodes of CANON's Photo Safari television program.

An accomplished writer as well as photographer, Brenda has written how-to articles for Outdoor and Nature Photography, Outdoor Photographer, and the on-line magazine Apogee Photo.  Brenda's book Creative Nature and Outdoor Photography was just published by Amphoto Books.

Brenda conducts lectures on photography throughout the United States and has presented inspirational programs for a variety of audiences, including The Mountaineers Club, American Society of Media Photographers, and the 2000 Photo Plus Expo West in Long Beach, California.
